I love watching Epic History TV. One of the better YouTube channels out there. And one of my inspirations. There’s a video that comes to mind: Napoleon’s 1814 Campaign.

He was able to fight off two larger Prussian and Austrian armies advancing on Paris, after his decisive defeat at the Battle of Leipzig in 1814.

You’re probably wondering what this has to do with strategy and tactics. But the campaign teaches several important tactical and strategic concepts.

Today I’ll go into:

  • A quick background.

  • The Central Position.

Then how to use the Central Position:

  1. Understand battlefield conditions

  2. Figure out tempo and space.

  3. Use momentum and aggression.

This is going to be focus on the strategy and tactics here more than the history.
